This page has been made to highlight the quality of coarse fishing on the tidal River Don downstream of Doncaster.
Due to the industrial revolution many years ago the river Don in south Yorkshire became one of the most polluted rivers in Europe. Now due to fish restocking and good water authority management over the last 40 years it now runs pure from above Sheffield through its tidal area below Doncaster and onto its confluence with the Yorkshire Ouse at Goole. Hopefully the tidal reaches will be opened up more to coarse anglers through these reports. At present access is restricted through most of the tidal length of the river simply due to its polluted past it was never considered a fishery. Hopefully that will change in the future as anglers appreciate the fishing available.
