RNLI - Birchington & District Branch - 01843 845363

As well as rescue services, the RNLI provides Beach Life Guards. The Birchington branch offers support by organising local fundraising and events.

The RNLI was created in 1824 to save lives at sea and provides an on-call 24 hour lifeboat rescue service. On average there are 23 call-outs per day around the shores of the United Kingdom.

Locally, the RNLI also provides valuable seasonal lifeguard services. The lifeguard services at Minnis Bay and West Bay beaches are managed by our colleagues from the Margate Lifeboat Station.

The Birchington Support Group for the RNLI has been in existence for over 30 years and in that time the local band of volunteers have worked tirelessly to raise awareness and funds for the Royal National Lifeboat Institute, and to ensure that local services can be maintained.

We are a small and friendly community-based branch, putting-on several social events throughout the year including coffee mornings, dances, afternoon teas and an annual quiz night.
