The Romney Marsh Visitor Centre has excellent selection of local art work, gifts and greeting cards. With a small café and picnic area.

With fascinating displays depicting the region’s natural and social history and opportunities to discover explore and learn about the Romney Marsh’s unique landscape.


Light refreshments are served in the café, and friendly, knowledgeable volunteers can offer information and guidance on what to visit and see in the area. There is a gift shop with local crafts, cards, wildlife information and maps of the area on sale, and locally sourced plants produce and preserves are always available.


The Visitor Centre building itself is an award winning eco-friendly building with many interesting and sustainable features.


There is an art gallery with exhibitions by local artists throughout the summer, in a separate building called The Art Shack. The exhibitions can be viewed any time the Visitor Centre is open.


There are gentle walks and picnic areas around the grounds and gardens with a boardwalk over the seasonal ponds to the reconstructed Lookers Hut, and views across the Romney Marsh.

Our Reserves Team takes care of 60 strategically important nature reserves covering some 3,000 hectares of land. Each reserve is a special place for wildlife. Staff and volunteers work tirelessly year-round to ensure that these precious sites are maintained.
