Rotary Club of Biddulph: Biddulph to Llandudno Trolley Trek

Biddulph Rotarian's: Biddulph to Llandudno Trolley Trek, 22 Oct 2016 to 28 Oct 2016, raising money for Approach and Action for Children.

The Rotarian "trekkers", intend to push (and probably pull…!) a Sainsbury's supermarket trolley a distance of 90 miles, - as it’s the Queen’s 90th year - from Biddulph Town Hall on 22nd October to the Rotary North West District Conference to be held in Llandudno over the weekend of 28th October 2016.

As they pass through towns en-route, the ‘Trekkers’ (Tony Birchall, Dave Ash and Town Crier and Rotarian John Robinson) and Rotary Club members back in Biddulph will be raising money in aid of two locally based charities.

Approach (supporting local Dementia and Alzheimer/mental health sufferers, based in Stoke Road, Shelton).

Action for Children (supporting and making life better for local children and young people based in the Dudson Centre, Hope Street, Hanley)

The Trolley Trek will start at 10.00am on Saturday 22nd October from the Town Hall steps when Town Mayor councillor Jill Salt will be joined by Staffordshire Moorlands MP the Rt. Hon Karen Bradley, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport to drop the starting flag for the ‘Trekkers’. All are invited to come along to wave-off them off!

En-route the ‘Trekkers’ plan to meet up with civic dignitaries of the towns they pass through, as well as meeting-up with other Rotary clubs and will also be supported by Town Criers advertising their imminent arrival at various 'hot-spots' along the way.
