Charity shop in the centre of Newton Abbot, raising funds for RSPCA Little Valley Animal Shelter.
The RSPCA shop in the the centre of Newton Abbot is clean, bright, popular and full of bargains. It is one of a number of shops for the South, East and West Devon Branch of the RSPCA. All of the Branch's shops raise money towards the running of Little Valley Animal Shelter in Exeter.
Little Valley Animal Shelter is located on the outskirts of Exeter. The Shelter, founded in 1991, supports the work of local RSPCA inspectors by caring for and rehoming over 1000 of the neediest animals from our local area every year.
Little Valley costs thousands of pounds a week to run and, as it receives no funding from the RSPCA national society toward the day to day running costs, this all has to be met from local fundraising.
All animals stay at the Shelter until they are adopted into caring, responsible homes. A homechecker visits every prospective owner and follow-up checks are made to ensure the animal is well and settled.
The Shelter can accept a wide variety of animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits, rodents, aviary birds, farm animals and equines. It also holds wildlife, pending their transfer to RSPCA West Hatch in Taunton.
Animals are only put to sleep on veterinary advice or because of incurable behavioural problems.
