The Healthy Child Programme is an evidence based universal service offered to all children and young people to ensure that they lead safe, healthy lives.
The team includes several different professionals:
Specialist Community Public Health Nurses - School Nurses are Registered Nurses who have undertaken extra training to enable them to support children, young people and families to achieve good health outcomes now and in the future.
Healthy Child Practitioners are all Registered Nurses with a special interest in helping Children, Young people and families.
Assistant Practitioners are practitioners who have undertaken training in child health and development and they work under the direction of the registered staff.
Healthy Child Screeners are practitioners who carry out screening of children in schools, for National Child Measurement Programme, Hearing and vision, they also work under the direction of the registered staff.
