Sittingbourne Baptist Church is an active church that reaches out into the community to bring change into people’s lives both spiritually and practically

Sittingbourne Baptist Church is an extremely active church that is deeply concerned about reaching out into the community to bring change into people’s lives both spiritually and practically. Through its different activities the church welcomes people of all ages and has a regular Sunday attendance of around 250 people including a large number of young people and young families. Sittingbourne Baptist Church teaches the relevance of the Bible to all areas of our lives today and its authority in matters of belief and daily living. We believe and teach that God can change our lives, that, as we trust in God and seek His daily help, he can and does change our marriages, our attitudes, our relationships, our daily lives and our eternal destiny. We believe that God is a God of hope and not despair and that all people, regardless of religious background or inclination, can experience Him personally through faith in Jesus Christ.

Sunday Morning Services

This service begins at 10.30am and lasts approximately one hour. The service is conducted in such a manner than everyone, with or without a church background, will feel comfortable, and understand what is taking place, find it relevant to their everyday life and be challenged to enter into an ever deepening relationship with God. Each service centres upon a particular theme and seeks to explore God’s teaching in the Bible concerning that theme. A list of themes can be found in within ‘Dates for your Diary’ calendar section. Children and young people take part in the first fifteen minutes of the service before going on to Junior Church or, in the case of the young people, the Way. Holy Communion is celebrated as a part of the morning service on the third Sunday of each month.

Sunday Evening Services

This service begins at 6.30pm. This service provides ample opportunity for lively worship, prayer and profound Bible teaching. At the present time the teaching is centred around exploring basic Christian beliefs with a view to their practical application for everyday living. Holy Communion is celebrated as a part of the evening service on the first Sunday of each month.

We have a standard theme for each month
First Sunday: Communion
Second Sunday: World Mission
Third Sunday:Equipping and Teaching
Fourth Sunday:Youth Service
Fifth Sunday (where applicable): A time of Praise and Worship and learning New Songs.

Our Youth

The WAY years (7 to 13)
The youth church at SBC are on fire to spread the word through events, socialising and great witness. With around 30 young people The Way meet in the main church and leave shortly into the service to head in to the basement for more worship, teaching and games. Subjects discussed are moral issues young people face and how we react and walk through life in a Christ like manner.
The youth also have their own worship band and a monthly service in the evening to bring lively worship, ministry time and the word of God in a clear and relevant way, by interviews, testimonies and visiting speakers.

IGNITE youth
Junior Church meets on Sunday during the 10.30am church service. Everyone starts off in the main service with their families and friends, then we split off to do our own thing. The children are divided by age into three groups. Our aim is to give the children a sound knowledge of the Bible and help them to develop a relationship with God. We want the children to realise that God is real, exciting and that He really wants to know them. We realise asking kids to sit still and being quiet for more than 10 minutes is asking for a miracle but we use different activities and styles to maintain their attention. The sessions are suitable for children with no church background as well as for children that have been to church most of their lives.
