More than just books! A public resource for all!

Southend Libraries are six branches serving the Southend-on-Sea Borough. While we may be known for our books, we also loan DVDs, CDs, Magazines and are a portal into multiple online resources. You can stop by and use a People's Network computer for free or join in a free Storyrhymes session with your little ones. Whatever you are looking for, Southend Libraries can get you on the road to finding it!

Libraries are known for loaning books - but did you know we also lend DVDs, audio books, CDs and magazines too?

There are six Libraries serving Southend:

All of our Libraries have computers with Internet access and Microsoft Office and are free to use for 1 hour per day. There are charges for printing.

We subscribe to many electronic databases including Ancestry.co.uk, Dictionary of National Biography and Britannica so you can use them for free. Some can be used from home as-well as in the Library - see our Online Reference Library on our website link above.

There are regular Storyrhymes sessions at every Library - call the BookStart Team on 01702 212120.

For those who have difficulties accessing the Library or it's resources we offer a Home Library Service, alternative material types and more.

Membership is free and open to anyone who lives in the UK.
