Standish Medical Practice is based four miles outside of Wigan, Lancashire. It has a long-standing history as the only GP surgery within the village and moved to its end-terrace location on Church Street in 1903. At that time it was a purpose-built doctor`s surgery and living quarters, and remained so until the middle of the century.

Both the village and practice have extended over the years and it now covers a population of almost 12,000 patients. We moved to our new state of the art building in February 2012.

The practice team is made up of eight GPs, three Practice Nurses, Practice Management and Administrative Staff.

Medical students from the University of Manchester complete educational placements at the practice and may be involved in some of the clinics you attend.

Additionally, the premises houses regular meetings and clinics with other members of the Primary Health Care Team. (E.g. District Nurses, Health Visitors, Antenatal and Palliative Care).
