Opal has always studied art and had a keen eye for design, whether it is to create a piece of art work or to create a stunning photo.

Opal has tried her hand at several art forms, such as cartoon drawing, henna tattoos, and painting, becoming known for her meticulous lead pencil drawings and portraits. Developing her skills using paper and canvas as the medium for her creativity, Opal then discovered the wonders of glass and began creating highly detailed paintings on glass.

In 2005, on a holiday in the Scottish Highlands, Opal happened upon Shards Stained Glass in Applecross, where she met Muirne Buchanan and had her first introduction to copper foiling. Within a week of returning home, Opal had booked herself on a stained glass course with Elisabeth Roberg of Northlights. Following a ten week course which included glass cutting techniques, engineering the design of structurally stable panels and lead came and copper foiled glass work, Opal then decided to adapt her skills and knowledge to incorporate sandblasting, etching and kiln-formed warm glass.

Opal creates bespoke glass art and jewellery using various forms of opaque, clear and iridescent glass, including dichroic, millefiori, frit, stringers and canes, and has identified a niche to create artworks that are unique in design and finish. Opal has an outstanding ability to evolve with the times and the economy, whilst ensuring a consistency of finish irrespective of the complexity of the piece she is working on.
The spectrum of products on offer increases almost weekly, and she undertakes commissions of all sizes, from pieces of jewellery to table and wall art, recently designing and creating sixty place name holders for a wedding.
