Dance Instruction

Step 2 It School of Dance was founded in 2010 by two dancers and friends, Lucy Rowe (MUTD) & Sarah Clarke (MUTD) Both were trained under the United Teachers of Dance syllabus at The Jill Foster School of Dance for over 20 years. In 2016 the teachers also gained their teachers qualification with Acrobatic Arts. Their main aim as teachers is to pass on their love of dancing to all of the pupils. They strive to create a fun and friendly environment whilst still maintaining and developing student’s technique in classes. Bi-annual shows are performed and the school competes in both local festivals and regional/national competitions. The school has won many medals and trophies since they began competing in 2012. Our school encourages all pupils to perform on stage at any given opportunity to gain stage experience and build up their confidence (this is always optional though). The school has been lucky enough to perform at some wonderful venues including The Birmingham Town Hall and the prestigious Blackpool Opera House. Alongside teaching children there is also a ladies class who are taught Modern & tap. Routines are choreographed and again we encourage those brave enough, to perform in our shows and competitions. Refreshments are available for parents/carers who choose to stay whilst classes take place.

Our Association, The United Teachers of Dance was founded in 1976 by Mrs Valerie Ann Harris and twenty founding Teacher Members. The Association was founded for the following main reasons: -
• To allow dance into everyone's life whatever shape, size, colour or age
• To set examination progression at a level obtainable by pupils in an acceptable time frame
• For all syllabi to have a good technique base, but to also be enjoyable
• To set examination fees at affordable prices.

The United Teachers of Dance has grown since its birth and is now established throughout the UK with teachers also in Ireland, Holland and Germany. Each subject has a head of department whose terms of reference are to ensure their specialist subject is a market leader. The school follows the tap, modern and ballet syllabus. Yearly examinations are taken and we are proud to have achieved a 100% pass rate. The board is recognised by The BDQT - BOARD OF DANCE QUALIFICATION AND TRAINING, members of The Theatre Dance Council International and an Awarding Body with the CDET.United Teachers of Dance
