St John's house is situated at the heart of the Ampleforth College campus and is the home to up to 60 boys, the Curran family and the Hurst family.
St. John's is a boarding house for 60 boys aged 13-18. It is named after the martyr St John Fisher, Bishop of Rochester, who was put to death for resisting Henry VIII's claims over the Church.
The Housemaster is Mr. Paul Curran, who runs the show with the help of his wife, Jen, and their two daughters Isabelle and Ariana.
He is assisted by Mrs. Jane Hurst, her husband Alistair (who also tutors in the House) and their two boys Callum and William. Both boys enjoy living with their 'older brothers' and are occasionally allowed to stay up late and join in check-in.
The house chaplain is Fr. Cyprian, and we have a team of dedicated tutors, including Br Ambrose, who strengthens the monastic links with the boys.
