Stockbridge Green Space Initiative (Nine Tree Project)
Stockbridge Village Community Allotments, Woodlands, Gardens, Orchards & Park Lands ... Community Bee Keeping, Composting & Environmental Clean Ups
As you are aware, Nine Tree C.P. School was closed last year and the school has since been demolished and the site cleared. Leading up to the school closure, there were some discussions regarding the possibility of the school buildings being retained for community use. Unfortunately, because of the time constraints, neither progress, nor positive proposals were initiated.
There have been a number of discussions and meetings between Local councilors, council officials and community groups with the view to initiating a proposal on the future 'community use' of the Nine Tree school site.
During our discussions, a number of proposals were put forward and investigated, resulting in the following proposal for the possible community led initiative for the use of the former Nine Tree school site.
A ’green environment’ community resource, based at the former Nine Tree school site, for community ’green environment’ groups and organizations, both as a home and/or base for Stockbridge Village community led Initiatives for community engagement in supporting, promoting and initiating an Improved and sustainable green environment.
The Nine Tree site could accommodate existing and newly formed and developing groups, as a home and/or a base, particularly for groups involved in: Bee keeping; allotments; community gardening; community woodland maintenance; fruit tree projects; healthy eating; environmental education; horticultural training; community recycling & composting; environmental ‘clean ups’; public open space initiatives; etc.
