My name is Nicola Green and I am the owner and big boss at The Buttercream Kitchen. There are three passions in my life: firstly my family, which comes second to nothing. I have 2 scrummy boys, Thomas 5 and Robbie 3, then my very supportive and understanding husband Ben, who is my Quality Assurance man!!!

My second passion is baking and, more recently, cake decorating. I have always had a passion for baking (and eating the outcomes) from a very young age. This probably stems from when I was young and lived on a small holding where my mother made most our food using produce from our own land and local farms. I love that my boys enjoy helping out in the kitchen and that they get excited about what cakes to make and who might eat them.

Thirdly and finally, I am a self confessed sport Billy; I love nothing more than getting hot and sweaty in the gym, running around a netball or basketball court, getting out for a family hike or skiing in the mountains. Sport and exercise has always been a major part of my life both growing up and as part of our family routines. The harder I work in the gym the more cake I can eat afterwards!!!

My background is education, I am a qualified secondary school science teacher, a job I loved and worked very hard at for 10 years and do occasionally miss. In 2007 I stopped teaching when I had my first son Tom; Robbie followed in 2010 and I never went back.

Having had so many fun times in the kitchen with my boys, I decided it was a passion I would like to start taking seriously. I went back to college and completed a Level 1 ABC in cake decorating, during which time I set up The Buttercream Kitchen and thoroughly enjoy baking and creating different and exciting new designs.
