The Formby Mafia

60/70 rock, commercial pop, band playing Tamla Motown, Country, Standard classics etc, with no exactly definable direction really,,. We play what music captures any one of us, ranging from 50s Bill Haley to modern, albeit to be honest, the modern stuff comes & goes, and we do appear to hold onto the 60/70s

Typical 5 piece band arrangment, (Rhythm, Lead, Bass, Drums, and Lead Vocalist).
Paul Bowan, Lead Vocalist.
Steve Nuttall, Lead Guitar & vocals,
Ed Smith, Rhythm Guitar & vocals
Barry Meadows, (Badger) Bass Guitar, & backing vocals
Ian Howe, Drums, and everything else percusive.

Ian retired (amicably) after our last gig on 7th December 2013,. Undoubtadly we were going to miss him,. He is a brilliant drummer and was a tough act to follow,. However, we did try to find a suitable replacement... Unfortunately it was durring this re-grouping process so to speak that the bands weaknesses and each ones idiosycrasies came to the fore..
Paul got a new hobby, Motor Bikes, and completly lost any interest in the band,,. Badger wanted to embrace his Bluegrass roots, this coming summer (2014) and put his kit up for sale on Ebay.

Sometime durring the weekend of 22nd February 2014. The Formby Mafia formally broke up,. Truth be known it was more of a drift apart than fomal breakup..

However, that leaves Steve, myself (Eddie) and the new guy Tony (Ians replacement). WE do intend to make every effort to continue and reform with the good name of The Formby Mafia, albeit it will somewhat be an altered format to the original..

After a chance meeting @ The Ship open mic' guitar night, 28th March 2014,,, The Band are getting back together,. Steve, Badger, Eddie, and new drummer Tony (still to be formally initiated) are putting the band back together,. We do have a new Lead vocalist on offer, however at this moment in time we feel we should keep this information on hold until we know everyone is happy and replacement has been agreed,.
Badger already has on order a genuine USA manufactured SG Bass, Limited Anniversary Edition.

Hi all,,. I finally gave up (Thursday15th) with our band. It wasn't easy but I didn't feel any fun in playing anymore. Sad really but all things move on. Truth be know we never did actually get back together..Guess it was time for our band to move on.. Don't know right now what I'll do next but I will post it just for reference...
