Calling all modern pioneers, urban gypsies, elegant adventurers and tasteful travellers in search of stylish secrets. Shhhhhhhh…..just down the hill, a pebble's throw from the River Fowey, in a picturesque waterside village, a secret sanctuary awaits you.
The Sunday House, a tenderly transformed 16th century Victorian chapel affording idyllic river views. Having been awarded the 5* Self-Catering Award from Visit England & offering four bespoke bedrooms, comfortably sleeping nine guests.
Plumped pillows and anti-allergy downy duvets, you'd be hard pushed to find a more luxurious space to sink into when it's time to put your head down. Wake every morning to the soothing stream that flows a gentle course down the bank to the side of the property and supplying a calming and gentle sound of running water. Your very own little piece of heaven; there's no better way to start the day. Snooze a little, read a little, grab a Nespresso and read a bit more. Our bedrooms are hard to leave. Yet so is our Riverview terrace. What better way to relax al fresco enjoying the idyllic views of the boats that drift by. Gaze out towards the river Fowey and watch the dragonflies dance beside kingfishers and wild otters frolicking in the very fold of the Fowey estuary that inspired Kenneth Grahame’s novel The Wind in The Willows.
The second floor open-plan living-room is an amazing space, with enormous windows, huge log burner, original Chapel organ and vaulted ceiling; it's a complete joy, offering the most stunning views. Star gaze, storm watch, or just get snuggly with one of our cashmere throws. A great ambience in the evening to ensure you and your guests are cozy and warm whilst relaxing on the lush sofas after a lovely day of walking on the Saints Way or exploring antique shops in Lostwithiel.
The kitchen is located in the former Sunday school, is really rather special. With original flooring throughout, you'll find a Rangemaster with gas hob and electric oven, Nespresso machine, Dualit appliances, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. The kitchen is large and spacious, with dusky Blue cabinets and smooth wooden work surfaces. It's fantastically well stocked with equipment too, so you'll never be left searching for a corkscrew - keep an eye out for the fabulous vintages pieces too. Even if you are a keen cook or wish to have a wonderful Cornish chef cater & entertain you (which we can arrange) the kitchen will be ideal for preparing any gastronomic delight. Fowey is just down the road so you can go and buy some crab, lobster or fresh fish and return to The Sunday House and barbeque on the terrace to the delights of your guests or use the range cooker for boiling, grilling or oven baking your purchased morsels. A lovely farm house kitchen table, with original chapel benches, ideal for those family breakfasts and long perfect holiday lunches.
The original double entrance chapel doors take you through panelled vestibule and to the delights of the dining hall. There you will find the original chapel pulpit, custom silk drapery, solid oak floors and marble fireplace. A exquisite dining table for eight, ideal for intimate crackling fire side supper parties.
There are four bathrooms; the three en-suites and the family bathroom are fitted with heating bars and the finest of fixtures, showers and antique claw foot bath tubs with copious amounts of hot water will ensure everyone is dressed for dinner on time. The White Company bath towels and Laura Ashley beach towels are provided.
A private south-facing terrace with stunning views and surrounded by beautiful Cornish countryside and River Fowey views, you will really be pushed to stray far. With surreal sunsets and evenings spent using the outdoor dining area with barbecue, teak furniture and outdoor heater why would you want to stray?
