Sussex Trug Baskets have been made here since 1899 following a long tradition of trugmaking in Herstmonceux. These are genuine Sussex Trugs made of willow and coppiced sweet chestnut. The timber is sourced locally and each piece is shaved with a drawknife. Looking for a real Sussex Trug? Make sure it is made using the correct materials. If it is made of ply then it is not a Sussex Trug.

Usually open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 til 1 or by appointment. Lots of trugs and lots of beautiful woven willow baskets, all made locally. If there is a particular size you want, give us a call. If we don't have it in stock, it can probably be made in a week or two.
