There are a number of public houses and fast food takeaways also located in Thornhill Village centre.
There is Thornhill social club on Edge top road Various activities including Yoga Club, Art Class, Keep Fit and Slimming, Probus Club, Flower Club and Sequence Dancing.
Sports facilities can be found close to Overthorpe Park. The park itself has a Rugby Club whose sports house is also used as a community centre for local social events.
There is also the Thornhill Sports and Social Club off Overthorpe Road which has a bowling green and football pitch formally the miners welfare.
There is a cricket and tennis club at the combs with football facility's.
There is also Thornhill united Football club based in Rectory park.
Residents may wish to explore the Kirklees Walkway. Much of the walk is along the canal side and runs from Thornhill to Thornhill Lees and further afield to Wakefield.
