Token Trees produce carefully crafted British hardwood sculptures for display in Gardens. These sculptures are complete one-offs, each completely bespoke.

British hardwood has a wonderful character rarely seen in wood from other parts of the world, even from the same species. Weather, soil, insects and underground rock formations all influence the growth and patterns of the timber, often resulting in unusual and much sought after colour, grain and texture. These are the rare timbers that we search for in specialist sawmills across the country to transform into Token Trees garden sculptures.

ll wood used for Token Trees is sustainably sourced and is air or kiln dried, sometimes even both. After the lengthy drying process, the moisture content is reduced, often to as low as 6% but always below 20%, the point at which rot is not likely to occur. After crafting the wood, it is treated with a premium wood preserver to defend against attack from insects and rot. This is followed with coatings of a natural oil-based microporous finish which does not crack, flake, peel or blister. It is water and dirt resistant, moisture regulating and reduces wood swelling and shrinkage. External elements of weathering normally fade the natural colour of the wood to a grey patina over time, but the oil we use has been developed with UV inhibitors to resist against this, whilst maintaining the wood’s natural appearance. The oil also contains biocides to further protect against algae, mildew and fungal attack. Maintenance is limited to a periodic wash and a thin coat of the recommended oil to defend against the weather.

Token Trees are pre-drilled to mount on the supplied stainless steel post or the optional display frame.

The mounting post can be positioned in quick-set concrete in the same way as a fence post. The stainless steel frame is designed to display your sculpture on a hard standing such as a patio, decking or in the home. Full instructions are provided with each sculpture.
