Trading Post Farm Shop
In September 1998 Steve and Sue purchased the Old Filling Station site at Lopenhead. It had been derelict for over 8 years and was sorely in need of some love and attention.
With their roots from farming and horticultural backgrounds they were both keen to grow organically so with very little capital they enthusiastically set about the 'creation' of the Trading Post with emphasis on using recycled materials and local craftsmen.
In 1999 they threw open the doors and trading began. Slowly but surely people started to arrive and the shop grew busier and busier until in 2009 the decision was made to extend the shop into an old recycled village hall behind the Old Filling Station.
With this new addition we were able to increase our stock and now are delighted to be supporting over 80 local suppliers.
On the 5 acres of land, which is Soil Association certified, Steve grows a stunning array of seasonal fruit and vegetables which are always available in the shop.
His speciality salad leaves - up to 30 varieties of leaf are a perfect accompaniment to any meal.
The plot is also home to a number of chickens and a couple of pigs!
The Trading Post has been described as an Aladdins cave for foodies - listing everything we sell doesn't do it justice so come along - visit us to see for yourself!!
