Upstairs at The Gatehouse is a small pub theatre in Highgate in the London Borough of Camden.The venue is a refurbished 1895 auditorium, upstairs from the Gatehouse pub, that has served over the years as a music hall, cinema, Masonic lodge, and a jazz and folk music club that once hosted a performance by Paul Simon. Today, the venue hosts theatrical and cabaret productions. It has presented a mix of off-beat and mainstream shows, including an all-female version of Hamlet, modernistic interpretation of opera classics and new musicals and dramas.In 2012 they staged a sellout run of Guys and Dolls as well as a new stageplay Iceberg - Right Ahead! to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the maiden voyage of RMS Titanic.In July 2013 a revival of Noël Coward's 1956 satirical comedy Nude with Violin had a three-week run staged by the Logos Theatre Company.Upstairs at the Gatehouse is run by Ovation Theatres Limited, whose two directors John and Katie Plews have served for over twenty years.
