A place where children and their parents can experience a warm and homely environment inspired by nature to nurture the young child's development.

The group is run in a beautiful barn that looks out onto the Moors. Our sessions are bound by a gentle rhythm, including a craft activity, creative free play, circle time, a shared snack, puppet play and an outdoor activity such as gardening, woodland walk or visiting the animals on the farm.

The group is inspired by nature and builds its songs, stories and games around the changing seasons. There is a strong focus on nurturing the child as a whole person in a trustworthy and respectful community.

I’m a mum of a sweet 9 month old boy and love to be creative and being in the outdoors. I am a qualified teacher and trained in the Steiner Waldorf pedagogy. I believe childhood is a special time and as parents we want our little ones to be introduced gently to the world.

I have worked in North Devon in an Steiner inspired outdoor preschool for several years before I moved to Dartmoor.

Little ones love the familiar, it makes them feel safe and therefore the sessions always follow the same pattern and include much repetition of songs and stories that change with the seasons. This helps fuel their imagination, creativity and helps them to learn with the use of all their whole bodies, imagination and the senses.

We try to provide a calm, unhurried and relatively peaceful atmosphere for children to feel safe whilst understanding that children this age need to use their bodies and voices.

The use of the imagination and creativity are encouraged through songs, verses and stories and seasonal festivals.

Welcome to the group give yourself a break and turn off your mobile phone, this is time for you and your little one to enjoy.

The group is for 0 to 3 years and runs every Tuesday from 10 am-12 noon.

Please bring slippers, wellies and if possible a baby carrier for the walk in the woods.

We love to encourage community and therefore ask you to bring a piece of fruit to share with snack.

Fees are paid termly.
