Well now you can with the help of Whitby Whale Watching.
So few people realise the North Sea, just a few miles off Whitby, boasts such a rich variety of sea life below the surface.
Over the past few years the whale watching trips on board the Specksioneer, Esk Belle III and Kerrera have spotted minke, fin, sei and humpback whales as well as thousands of seals, dolphins and porpoises.
Watch for a "blow" as the whale breathes out, see the arch of the back as whales show themselves whilst swimming towards or even alongside the boat! Experience the smell of fish on their breath, or maybe even a breach - before they disappear again to the murky depths below!
