We are a thriving and social hockey club in south west London. Wimbledon HC is part of The Wimbledon Club that offers cricket, hockey, squash, tennis and a gym. The club house and grounds are just opposite the AELTC (Wimbledon Tennis).
We play our hockey at the KCS astros off West Barnes Lanes in Raynes Park with match teas and socials all back at the Wimbledon site.
Hockey starts with the U5-U8s with after school hockey, the U9-U16s train and play matches on Sundays whilst the 17+ form our senior section with mens and ladies teams in the national league as well as numerous vets teams for all ages and abilities.
B2H is fast becoming a permanent part of Wimbledon Hockey. It serves the purpose of getting ex players or enthusiastic parents back into hockey. Its aimed at getting out there and having a go in a relaxed and fun environment. There is no pressure to perform out of the comfort zone, but to gives confidence to achieve something you may never thought you had. This season we had a fixed training slot at the astro on a Monday evening. So come howling winds, driving rain or plummeting temperatures, on average 15 ladies and men joined forces to learn a bit more about the sport of hockey. Learning to 'slap', 'aerial' or even just hit with up to date techniques culminated in a mini match verses a ladies side, at which B2H acquitted themselves with heads held high. We are hoping that a couple of members will graduate into the senior sections as we achieved last year, but for those who enjoyed it so much this season we hope they will return to learn more in September.
