Between the woods and the water in the shadow of the bell tower of St Mary- the-Virgin you’ll find a rather picturesque 17th century clapboard building, which for the last 38 years, has been home to the Wivenhoe Bookshop.
Yet we are not all old-fashioned charm. If we don’t have your book in stock, we can access over 250,000 titles by overnight order. We also offer a quick and efficient out of print booksearch service. Our experienced and friendly staff are happy to help and advise (or just leave you alone for a good old browse).
But it’s not all just about books. PR guru Damien Horner dubbed the Wivenhoe Bookshop ‘the cultural hub of the community’, probably because of our full programme of events for writers, readers, knitters, artists and philosophers, and our dining reading group.
Check out our website for the latest on luanches, courses and events, the world's smallest gallery, and news from Wivenbooks, our publishing imprint.
