Commemorating the gallantry and sacrifice of the troops based here in Woodhall Spa who fought in the battle for Arnhem.
The 1st Air Landing Brigade was based here in Woodhall Spa prior to their deployment to fight in the battle of Arnhem.
The Brigade was based in hutted camps on the eastern edge of Woodhall; and, the unit HQ elements requisitioned houses and hotels in the centre of Woodhall Spa.
The Brigade fought with great gallantry at Arnhem despite the heavy toll of casulties.
The community of Woodhall Spa annually remembers their sacrifice on the anniversary of the battle.
