The Recreation Centre is the central point for both sports & fitness here at Writtle College. Located near the baa, it is a main focus point for students on and off campus.
The Recreation Centre offers students the use of the college sports hall, 2 squash courts and the fitness suite.
The fitness suite is host to 25 different working stations both cardiovascular and muscular. It also offers the use of freeweights including dumb bells ranging from 2kg to 50kg, olympic bars with plates ranging from 1 1/4 kg to 25kg and also a bodyweight area including swiss balls and TRX suspension training. This is available to staff, students and members of the public for a fee shown below.

6 months membership - £50
1 month membership - £20
Associate members
Standard Recreation membership - £30 (only offers use of sports hall and squash court for that indervidual)
Monthly fitness suite membership - £22
Annual fitness suite membership - £220 (includes recreation centre membership)
These membership forms are available outside the fitness suite office and can be paid by cash, cheque or debit/credit card. All members must undertake an induction for health and safety purposes and will then be able to access the facility as and when they like.
For staff and students to book the sports hall and squash courts, all you need to do is sign your name on the booking sheet which is located near the entrance for both facilities. Once a name has been writtle on the sheet it is then booked out for that person.
The Recreation Centre is also home to the Further Education Sports & Fitness course and the Further Education Sports & Fitness Outdoor Education course. Information for these can be found via the Writtle College website, regular open evenings and also through the further education prospectus.

The Recreation Centre is also the central point for the Writtle College sports teams. for the 2011/2012 season the college are offering students to partake in the following sports:

Men's Shooting
Women's Shooting
Signing up to these clubs is free and easy to do. All sports have a noticeboard in the recreation centre with information about training times, locations, fixtures times and locations. It also has the email address and photograph for the team captain. All sports embrace all levels of ability weather you are experienced or just interested in starting out a new sport.
For most of the sports, training will be held on a Monday nights with varying times and locations for the different sports and fixtures will be held on a Wednesday afternoon at 2pm. Mixed Hockey fixtures are always held on a Sunday with fixtures starting at 2pm.
