Bury St Edmunds Art Society is one of the largest and longest-established art societies in Suffolk. We celebrate our 70th Anniversary this year.
The Society was founded in 1946, with membership open to professional and amateur artists in East Anglia.
The aims of the Society were to organise exhibitions of original paintings and to further the development of the visual arts and interest in their study and practice.
Bury St Edmunds Art Society is a lively society, with members working in an ever-widening range of media, including: painting - in watercolours, oils and acrylics; drawing; print-making; sculpture (although we have no sculptors in the Society at present).
The Society's membership comprises people from all walks of life and includes many for whom art is a pleasurable pastime, as well as a number of distinguished professional artists (for whom art is a pleasurable occupation!)

ACTIVITIES
The Society has a regular programme of demonstrations and lectures, as well as exhibitions and visits. But very important is, of course, the opportunity to meet other artists on a friendly and informal basis.
The Society holds its main Annual Exhibition during the Summer, giving the opportunity for all members to display and offer their work for sale.
In addition, members may exhibit work in the Gallery section of this, the Society's website.
All the information about the Society is here, but if you have any questions please use our Contact page or speak to our Membership Secretary, Margaret Colman, on 01284 769988.
