When I became Gluten free 4 years ago it was a massively scary new world. I had to learn how to eat without making myself poorly all the time and learn to trust companies and restaurants that they were not going to 'gluten' me. When I’m 'glutened' I will be sick for at least a week, with symptoms ranging from sickness, joint pain, fatigue, headaches, bloating, stomach ache and a few other nasties.
Next came shop brought products highly overpriced, some with a texture that you imagine cardboard to be. Cakes so tiny, bland and crumbly. Surely eating treats should be an enjoyable experience I thought.
I have made cakes as far back as I can remember, happy memories of reaching up to the worktop as a 4 year old trying to help Dad make a cherry cake.
This is when I decided to start making cakes for myself and my family. They were all so surprised when I told them they were GF, I can’t tell the difference they said!!!! This proves you do not have to be gluten free to enjoy these.
And so it continued until the day I spoke to a lovely lady called Annabel Cottingham. She told me to take a leap of faith, what have you got to loose?
so here I am now, building up a fabulous business around a 'real' job 3 children and a husband.
