Haydon Bridge
Welcome to Haydon Bridge
Set on the River South Tyne – an unbeatable mix of rural tranquility, easy access to world class heritage and the cities of Newcastle and Carlisle.
Haydon Bridge can trace its history back at least 1,000 years. It is thought that the first part of the town’s name has Saxon origins and may have meant “valley where hay is made.” The second part of the name refers to the bridge
Several centuries old, spanning the River South Tyne, the bridge is still an imposing sight. It is recorded in 1309 as the Pontem de Haydon and in 1381 as Haiden Brigg.
There is something for everyone to find and enjoy.
The perfect place to holiday in a quiet rural village location.
