Llwyncrwn Livestock consists of Pedigree flocks of North Country Cheviots, Balwen Welsh Mountain, Pedigree Welsh and Black Welsh Mountain sheep.
In 2004 we decided to switch over from being a commercial breeder to a pedigree breeder of sheep.
Later that year we decided to go into North Country Cheviots and Balwen Welsh Mountain, since then another five pedigree flocks have been introduced, these being the Kenco flock of NCC, the Cefn flock of Balwens, the Llwyncrwn flock of Pedigree Welsh mountains and also the Llwyncrwn Flock of Black Welsh Mountains.
The foundations of the Cheviot flock came from Mr David Pittendreigh (Coed-Y-Foel), along with some BroomHill Bank ewes.
One of the Rams that left a lasting mark within the flock was a Tup we bought from the NSA sale from the Moortown flock.
The Llwyncrwn Balwen flock was made up of a Ram bought from Mr Alun Williams along with some ewes from various other flocks.
The Cefn flock of Balwens were bought by Katy from Mr & Mrs Thompson in the later end of 2009.
Carrying on in 2009 the Kenco flock of NCC was made. This flock belongs to Gina from a handful of ewes given to her/bought by her over the years from the original Llwyncrwn flock. She uses rams from the main flock.
In 2010 Katy set up the Black Welsh Mountain flock for her son,
She started off with three yearling ewes from the late Mr Chris Hughes and a ram lamb from the Garth flock.
She started the flock in memory of Chris who sadly got taken away from us at a young age in an unfortunate accident.
The passion Chris showed for his sheep is something that Katy wants to show and pass onto her son.
The Pedigree Welsh Mountain flock was also set up in 2010 with a number of in lamb ewes bought from Mr C Harries. These ewes still remain in the flock and have produced stock which has been retained.
