It was in 2001 that Rev. Reji Varghese came to England to do his theological higher studies. That was the time when the British Government opened the doors of opportunities for Nurses and, a number of South Indian families came into this country. These families were living scattered in cities as well as interior places without any spiritual support or worshipping facilities in their native language. As per the vision the Lord had granted, Rev. Reji Varghese started a ministry to work among the South Indian (Keralite) community in the country in association with and as part of Lighthouse Christian Centre in Manchester. It was the beginning of Malayalam Christian Church in 2002.
During this short span of time, the Lord has enabled to establish seven churches in England and Scotland wherein hundreds of members are worshipping the Lord in truth and spirit. Every year the Lord adds tens of new members to the church having taken baptism and many having made commitments to the Lord week after week. Malayalam Christian Church strongly advocates apostolic teachings and Pentecostal doctrines and as a policy of the Church we associate and share fellowship with any like minded churches in UK and Europe.
In 2004, the church formed an executive body, headed by the Church Overseer Rev. Reji Varghese and nominated members from local churches, for the smooth running of the activities of the church.
The Church also formed Youth and Sunday School boards to co-ordinate the respective activities of the church. Every year Youth / Sisters / Sunday School anniversary is being held in different cities in the country.
The Church has conducted many major conferences in Manchester, Liverpool, and Cologne (Germany). The Sisters wing of the church also conducts power conferences every alternate year. Thousands in England and Europe have been blessed by these conferences; lead by internationally renowned men of God. Every year, the church conducts 21 days fasting prayer during October/November and it has proved to be a great blessing to all. More information on these events can be had in the respective pages.
Having passed through many struggles in the alleyway of spiritual growth, Malayalam Christian Church has many reasons to glorify God for bringing us so far. The spiritual enthusiasm, unity, fellowship, love and care of our brethren are the key factors of our success.
We have just started and we have a long way to go. We are confident that we will be able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.
