Museum of Abernethy - 01738 850889

The Museum of Abernethy lies on the site of an eleventh-century Culdees monastery, close to one of only two eleventh-century round towers in Scotland.

The museum offers displays about the town of Abernethy and its people in both ancient and modern times. Learn about the 3,000-year old logboat recovered in 2007; the Roman legionary fortress at Carpow; Abernethy as a Pictish capital, and as an important religious centre during early Christian times; as the place where Malcolm Canmore met William the Conqueror; and so on down to the Second World War when Abernethy was home to many Polish troops.
