We are part of Rotherham Council and we are a team that works to find loving families for children who can no longer live with their birth families.
Adoption is when you provide a permanent family for a child who cannot live with their birth parents.
An adoptive parent takes on all the legal rights and responsibilities for the child that a birth family would normally have.
All kinds of people make a success of adoption. You can be in a relationship or single, straight or gay, working or unemployed, a homeowner or renting, a parent or childless, and from any ethnic background.
There are just a few conditions you have to meet:
You should be at least 21 years old
There's no upper age limit, but you must be healthy enough to see a child safely into adulthood
You need a spare room - but if you haven't got one now, you can still look into adoption so you're ready to go if you get a spare room in the future
Adopted children are nearly always the youngest in the family, and should usually be at least two years younger than other children.
If you think you are able to offer a home to a single child or sibling group then please contact us for more information
