Raising money for the Katie Piper Foundation - bringing people together through food!
As many of you will know my brother Andreas was the victim of an acid attack in December 2014. A man unknown to Andreas turned up on his door-step and threw acid in his face. After almost a year of wondering why anyone would do this to Andreas, we were told it was as a case of mistaken identity. In the months that followed the attack the Katie Piper Foundation were an invaluable support to my brother, and they continue to be so. Acid attacks in the UK are on the rise. The number of admissions to hospital as a result of acid attacks has doubled in the last 10 years. So, to raise some money for a very worthwhile charity and to celebrate my brother for being such an awesome human being, I am hosting a series of Supper Clubs.
During the first 6 months that followed the attack I would visit Andreas often clutching a homemade offering that would always raise a smile. I quickly established my role as 'cook' feeling relieved that I could help my brother in some small way. Food has a way of bringing people together in good times and bad, so it seemed obvious to me that my fundraising effort should involve food. I'm not a chef, but I'm passionate about cooking and baking. My style of cooking is simple wholesome feel good food. It is important to me where the food I eat comes from so I try to eat with the seasons using local produce.
The idea of Supper Club St Columb is an exclusive evening where I invite you into my kitchen to enjoy delicious vegetarian food in return for a donation to the Katie Piper Foundation. Hopefully together we can help raise some awareness and funds for an amazing charity.
The suggested donation amount is £20 per person and all proceeds will go to The Katie Piper Foundation.
