Drawing from a galaxy of emerging and established UK artists/sculptors whose unique work transcends the aesthetic and challenges the intellect. All welcome
Drawing from a galaxy of emerging and established UK wide artists, sculptors and ceramicists the inaugural 2015 exhibition will show work from over 30 artists that demonstrates the widest variety of techniques and styles, often transcending the aesthetic and challenging the intellect.
Amongst the coterie of established artists Meg Buick, a winner of several awards, is a painter and printmaker, with drawing at the core of her practice. Her work explores the relationship between figures and landscape and is concerned with images of pilgrimage. She draws on various motifs from pre-history and the early renaissance in order to appear both ancient and contemporary.
Somerset sculptress Felicia Fletcher works in bronze, stone, wood, steel and scagliola. The materials are always chosen in harmony with the concept of the piece; inspired by nature, her work symbolises life, exploring physical and metaphysical dualities such as connection/separation.
Classical training is the foundation for Catherine Cazalet’s work which is developed though her knowledge of the history and origin of design. It represents nature using vibrant colours and abstract composition.
The new discoveries include Alice Macdonald who works using various etching techniques such as sugar lift and chine collé. She enjoys observing people and their habits and is inspired by creating permanence from the transient moments in everyday life while Tabitha Steinberg exposes the viewer to the troubling uncertainties in the universe.
All welcome; register online via www.the-aldeburgh-pop-up-gallery.eventbrite.co.uk and we'll give you cocktails on arrival.
