Hard standing parking for approximately 200 cars right next to the beach in Instow served by a Beach Cafe serving Hot & cold snacks, drinks& ice creams.
Instow is a sandy beach & village between the market towns of Barnstaple and Bideford both popular as holiday destinations. A quick ramble over the sand dunes and there are stunning views of the long sandy beach and the sea estuary where the river Taw and river Torridge meet, popular for sailing, canoeing and windsurfing. Whether you are looking for a quiet break, an active family holiday, a bird watching retreat, a romantic break or just a bit of everything Instow has just want you need.
The picturesque fishing village of Appledore climbs the banks opposite Instow beach and is a stunning sight when the sun sets behind it. There is a local ferry boat which joins the two banks when the weather and tide permit.
There is limited parking along Marine Parade between April and September so make use of the huge Car park next to the sand dunes. Sandhills Car Park is open most weekends through the winter months, weather permitting and every day through the summer. There is a ramp at the end of the car park making an easier access for wheelchairs and child buggies. The beach is dog friendly all year.
The Beach Box Café is set at the entrance of the Sandhills Car Park, on the beach and just off of the tarka trail and offers, ice creams, cream teas and homemade cakes, hot & cold snacks and drinks. The café is popular with cyclists and walkers who detour off of the Tarka Trail for a break and refreshments. All food is sourced locally and cooked fresh to order.
